Women's Tennis Update From Texas

Monarchs had a busy day of tennis and travel

WOODVILLE, Texas - The Methodist women's tennis team had a busy day Tuesday full of tennis and travel. The Monarchs are working hard to find success on the courts while also experiencing all Texas has to offer.

The Monarchs woke up early to leave the Flaherty house by 7:30 a.m. for the big drive to LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. Volunteer assistant coach Justin Campbell met the team at the match with individual note cards with things to remember during the match. The team finished with a successful 9-0 victory.

As always, the team continues to be entertained by Dana Powell. Rachel Purser and head coach Francie Barragan picked up Powell's phone when she went to the bathroom. Powell knew someone had her phone so she took the map quest directions as hostage from Barragan until the phone was returned. She received bonus points for witty retaliation.

After the win, the team ate dinner at Whataburger, a first for everyone except Kaitlin Flaherty. Two more hours of travel and the team arrived at the Flaherty lake house in Woodville, Texas. With a bonfire on tap for Tuesday night, the Monarchs will have a full day of relaxation at the lake house on Wednesday before taking on Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday.
