LONGVIEW, Texas - The Methodist women's tennis team opened up their Texas trip with a 9-0 win over LeTourneau University Tuesday afternoon.

The Monarchs took the quick 3-0 lead after doubles. Kaitlin Flaherty and Katherine Meindl won 8-0 at number one and Heather Brayton and Jennifer Hamel won 8-0 at number three. Rachel Purser and Dana Powell finished with the 8-4 win at number two.

Flaherty earned the 6-2, 6-2 win at number one singles and Meindl won 6-1, 6-2 at number two. Purser followed up with the 6-2, 6-1 win at number three and Brayton won 6-2, 6-0 at number four. Powell picked up the 6-0, 6-1 win at number five and Kelli Shelton finished with the 6-0, 6-0 shutout at number six.

The Monarchs will face Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday at 2 p.m.
