Methodist University Athletics

The 1987-88 cheerleading team finished in fourth place at the NCA National Collegiate Cheer Championship in the combined division. Under the direction of Gwen Holtsclaw, herself a member of the Methodist Athletics Hall of Fame, the Monarchs were the highest-ranked Division III cheer team in the country and became the first MU team to qualify for the NCA Collegiate Championships, let alone place.
