Malloy was a star defensive end for the Methodist football team from 1998-2001. Malloy finished a two-time All-Conference selection as well as the 2001 DIAC Defensive Player of the Year. He was also a two-time All-American including earning First Team honors as a senior. Malloy holds the Methodist records for career sacks (24) and season sacks (14) while ranking fourth all-time in career tackles (286). In 2001 he was named to the National AFCA Good Works Team and after graduation spent eight years playing arena football in the Fayetteville area.
