NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Methodist women held on to win the O'Brien National Invitational on Monday with a score of 618 (303-315) for the two round tournament.
Wisconsin-Eau Claire made a late push, with a score four strokes better than the Monarchs on day two, but Methodist's six stroke advantage through the first day was enough for the win. The Monarchs edged the Blugolds by two strokes while the host, Saint Mary's College finished third with a 629.

Susan Martin shaved five strokes off her score to finish with a 151 (78-73) good enough for third place. Senior
Alana Swain shot 152 (72-80) for fourth and sophomore
Kelsey Magnine tied for sixth at 157 (77-80). Junior
Paige Caldwell shot 158 (76-82) to tie for ninth and junior
Emily Jackson finished tied for 34th with a 168 (85-83). Freshman Jennifer Sullivan competed as an individual and placed 45th with a 171 (84-87).
Martin and Swain were named to the All-Tournament team for their top five finish.
The Monarchs will travel to the Sea Trail Intercollegiate at Sunset Beach, N.C. Sept. 25-27.
