FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The USA South has announced their Athletes of the Week.  The conference gives an award for Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for each sport active during that week.

Tyler Sigman has been named the USA South Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week. The senior guard from Poca, West Virginia was 15-of-16 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 at the free throw stripe as he helped lead the Monarchs to their first win over the season, a 98-70 victory over USA South rival Greensboro in the team's only action last week. Sigman scored a game and career-high 39 points, collected a game-high four steals, grabbed two rebounds and dished out one assist in the win.

Dezzire Gilliard has been named the USA South Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week. The senior forward from Charleston, South Carolina helped the Monarchs to a 2-0 record versus USA South competition last week by averaging 20.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 4.0 steals and 2.5 blocks per contest. In a 77-71 victory over Meredith, Gilliard tallied a career and game-high 26 points. She also added five rebounds, a team-high five steals, four assists and one block in the win. In a 60-44 victory over Greensboro, Gilliard notched a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. She also added a game-high four blocks and team-highs of five assists and three steals in the win.
