Box Score ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Methodist men's soccer team came from behind to tie the game at one early in the second half, but St. Mary's College scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute to earn the 2-1 victory.
The Seahawks scored the first goal in the 26th minute to take the 1-0 lead. Methodist came back out after halftime and evened the score when
Eric McGinnis fed
Clayton Newton for the goal.
St. Mary's earned a penalty kick midway through the half and Brian Payne put his team up 2-1 with the goal. The Seahawks held Methodist without a shot after the goal to preserve the 2-1 win.
Methodist goalkeeper
Kyle Beach made 10 saves while Paul Spranklin had five stops for St. Mary's.
The Monarchs will host Chowan on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in their first home game of the season.
