WILSON, N.C. - Methodist University and Barton College played just five minutes and 17 seconds before heavy rain halted the match.
Barton took a 1-0 lead early, but the referee stopped play just 12 seconds later with visible rain water sitting on top of the grass. After about a five-minute delay the same referee determined the field would be unplayable all night due to a water-logged pitch. The game has no playoff implications for either program and is currently being considered canceled, with an outside chance of being rescheduled. All statistics will not count as the 72 minutes needs (80%) for an official NCAA game was not reached.
Methodist will travel to Atlanta this weekend and face off at Emory on Saturday at 12 p.m.
