FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist men's tennis team will host the 2-of-3 Men's Challenge beginning on Friday and culminating on Sunday as the Monarchs compete in their final event of fall season.
The unique event features two players from a school that will compete both as a doubles team and individually against another school's pairing, with the school that wins two of the three matches (two singles matches/one doubles match) advancing on.
In addition to the Monarchs, six other teams are slated to compete including Mt. Olive, Guilford, Pfeiffer and Virginai Wesleyan among others. The 2011 champions, Edgar Bub and Akio Mariano are once again in the field and will look to defend their title from a year ago.
Matches will take place both at Methodist University, at Monarch Courts, and off campus at Arnette Park.
Play begins on Friday at 1:00 pm with the finals slated for Sunday at 1:00 pm.
