FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Methodist took home both the USA South Men's Tennis Player of the Week and the USA South Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week awards as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
 
Duncan Miller was the Men's Tennis Player of the week, while Taylor Buchholz was tabbed the Rookie of the Week as they helped the Monarchs to a 3-0 week and help MU improve to 15-0 on the season. The Monarchs defeated Ferrum, 8-1, then swept both Piedmont and LaGrange, 9-0, to end the week.
 
Miller posted a 3-0 record while playing a No. 1 singles and a 3-0 record primarily at No. 1 doubles. Miller bested Christopher Miller of Ferrum, 6-3, 6-3, then recorded a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-0, 10-8 win over Koen Gottenbos of Piedmont before closing out the week with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Alex Glass of LaGrange.
 
In doubles, Miller teamed with Buchholz for an 8-1 win at No. 2 over Michael Marsh and Taylor Napier of Ferrum. The duo then played the top spot against Piedmont and LaGrange, posting an 8-5 win over Gottenbos and Nick Halberg and an 8-1 win over Glass and Wade Fegley of LaGrange.
 
In singles, Buchholz, playing at No. 2, knocked off Connor Moncure of Ferrum, 6-1, 6-1, then recorded a 6-1, 7-6(4) win over Halberg of Piedmont for a 2-0 record on the week.
 
The Monarchs wrap up regular-season play with a trio of matches this week, beginning with a home date against Guilford on Wednesday beginning at 4:00 pm.
