FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The USA South announced the seeding for the men's and women's tennis, baseball and softball conference championships on Sunday evening. The USA South Spring Festival will be held primarily in Rocky Mount, N.C. beginning on Thursday afternoon.
The Methodist women's tennis team, by virtue of its 6-3 win over CNU on Sunday afternoon, earned the USA South regular season title and the tournament's No. 1 seed. The Monarchs will open play in the first round when they take on eighth-seeded William Peace at 2:00 pm on Friday on the campus of N.C. Wesleyan. Should Methodist advance, they would play in the semifinals on Saturday at 1:00 pm and the finals on Sunday at 10:00 am.
On the men's side, the Monarchs secured the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 6 Ferrum on Friday morning beginning at 9:00 am, also on N.C. Wesleyan's campus. The semifinals are set of Saturday morning at 10:00 am, followed by Sunday's final at 10:00 am.
In baseball, Methodist earned the No. 6 seed and will open play against third-seeded Averett on Thursday in the double-elimination tournament. The Monarchs and Cougars will square off at 8:00 pm at Fleming Stadium in Wilson, N.C. If Methodist wins its first-round game, the Monarchs would play at 1:00 pm on Friday at Five County Stadium in Zebulon, N.C., while a loss would have them playing at 1:00 pm on Friday at Fleming.
Methodist's softball team is the No. 5 seed heading into the conference tournament and will take on No. 4 Meredith at 9:00 am on Friday at the Rocky Mount Sport Complex. Win or lose, the Monarchs' second game will be played at 1:00 pm.
The Methodist men's golf team will also tee it up this weekend in the conference championships. The Monarchs will begin the three-round event on Friday morning, with the champion being crowned on Sunday afternoon. All three rounds will be played at the Benvenue Country Club in Rocky Mount, N.C.
