Monarchs B & C Teams Take First and Second Place

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C.  Methodist University women's golf "B" and "C" teams dominated the field at the 2024 Women Flyers Fall Invitational, September 30 through October 1, as the B team took home first place and the C team came in second. Additionally, all nine Monarch golfers that competed claimed spots 1 through 9 in the individual standings.

Top individuals: 1 – Jenna Rutledge, Methodist (75-77–152, +8), 2 – Eva Denten, Methodist (78-82–160, +16), 3 – Chloe Kraus, Methodist (84-78–162, +18)

THE LOW-DOWN
  • Winning the medalist honors was junior Jenna Rutledge, who played for team B, with a final score of 152 (+8). Her 75 (+3) on day one led the field, and she continued to lead throughout the second day, carding a 77 (+5) in round two.
  • Sophomore Eva Denten played for the B team, and she wrapped up the event with a two-day score of 160 (+16). On day one, she matched her career-low round score of 78 (+6) before posting an 82 (+10) in the second round.
  • Coming in third was team B member Chloe Kraus, a senior who shot 162 (+18) during her two times out on the course. She scored an 84 (+12) in round one but then bounced back to record a 78 (+6) to finish the event.
  • The last two players on the B team were Liz Franchetti, a junior, and Anna Wicklum, a sophomore, and the two of them came in a tie for fourth with a total of 164 (+20). Franchetti shot an 81 (+9) and an 83 (+11) during her two rounds, while Wicklum carded a pair of 82s (+10).
  • Leading the C team was freshman Paige Wilkinson, who came in sixth with a two-day score of 167 (+23). This was Wilkinson's first collegiate event, and she shot an 82 (+10) in the first round and then scored an 85 (+13) on day two.
  • Senior Jamie Rush claimed seventh place after posting 170 (+26) for the tournament. She opened with an 88 (+16) but had a better second day, where she scored an 82 (+10).
  • Like Wilkinson, freshman Kiley Donovan also played in her first-ever collegiate tournament. She shot an 83 (+11) and a 90 (+18), respectively, during her two trips on the course, which gave her a total of 173 (+29) and eighth place.
  • Rounding out all Methodist golfers was junior Rouyun Lim, who came in ninth with a two-day total of 174 (+30). In the first round, she shot an 85 (+13) and then an 89 (+17) in the second.

These golfers will have a chance to compete again later this month at the Chick-fil-A Invitational from October 28-29.
