FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist women's soccer team won their sixth USA South game with a 5-1 victory over N.C. Wesleyan Sunday afternoon.
Methodist (10-5, 6-0) took an early lead after junior
Ashley Kolano fed junior
Whitney Roberson who shot far post to score in the 18th minute of play. Kolano followed up with a corner kick to Roberson for the flick to junior
Erica Nath for the second Methodist goal. Roberson scored her second goal in the 36th minute after a pass from sophomore
Kelly Orpin. N.C. Wesleyan countered with a goal in the 41st minute from Aubrey Bonorden, but the Monarchs held onto the 3-1 lead at halftime.
Methodist regrouped at halftime and junior
Michelle Anderson finished one at the endline for the 4-1 lead. Freshman
Jillian Reed crossed a ball from the left side in the 69th minute for freshman
Danielle Minichello to tap in for the Monarchs' fifth goal of the day.
Sophomore
Kasey Nichols had four saves for Methodist while Bryanne Godfrey and Sarah Hess combined in goal for N.C. Wesleyan with seven saves a piece.
Methodist will travel to Christopher Newport on Saturday for a 5 pm kickoff.
