FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist took the early lead and never relinquished it as they cruised to the 5-0 victory over Averett University Saturday. The Monarchs move to 6-5 overall and 3-0 in the conference while Averett stands at 7-2-1 overall and 2-1 in the USA South.

Whitney Roberson gave Methodist the 1-0 lead on a goal in the 12th minute on a shot off the inside of the far post. Junior

Danielle Minichello for the second goal from the top of the 18 just a minute later. The Monarchs led 2-0 at halftime. Sophomore #Amber Jurkovac hit a long ball from the defense to Roberson to score the third goal of the game. The Cougars were whistled for a foul in the box to set up Minichello's second goal on a penalty kick in the 61st minute. Sophomore

Kasey Nichols had three saves while Samantha Lupo made eight stops for the Cougars.
The Monarchs will take the road next weekend to play at Shenandoah and Mary Baldwin.
