FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist men's basketball team took the early lead and never trailed as they went on to win 71-59 over Greensboro College.
The Monarchs (5-8, 1-0) jumped out to an early 11-4 lead after a jumper from junior
Tyler Sigman with 16:16 to go in the half. Methodist kept up the pressure, extending their lead to 30-16 with less than five minutes remaining. Greensboro (6-7, 0-1) closed the half on an 8-2 run, but the Monarchs were ahead 32-24 at halftime.
Greensboro tied the game at 41 midway through the second half but Sigman responded with a layup to move ahead once again. Senior #A.B. Lehmann# scored three 3-pointers to help the Monarchs rebuild a nine point advantage. The Pride started fouling in the final minute and Methodist shot 8-for-8 from the free throw line to win 71-59.
Lehmann led the team with 21 points while Sigman scored 13 and sophomore
Leland Jones scored 10. Sigman led the team with seven rebounds.
The Monarchs will travel to Ferrum on Saturday for a 4 pm tipoff.
