ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The Methodist men's basketball team had a 38-35 halftime lead but N.C. Wesleyan pulled away in the second half to win 89-73.
The Monarchs (7-10, 2-2) took the early lead but N.C. Wesleyan (12-5, 2-2) tied the game at 10 with 12:55 to go in the first half. The Bishops led by as many as eight, but Methodist regained the lead on a 3-pointer from senior
Alex Meadows.
Junior
Tyler Sigman's layup with 18:07 to go gave the Monarchs 44-38 lead but N.C. Wesleyan tied the game at 47. Methodist regained the lead briefly, but N.C. Wesleyan took over for good with 9:08 to go in the game. The Bishops extended their lead through the final minutes to take the 89-73 victory.
Sophomore
Leland Jones led the Monarchs with 17 points and nine rebounds. Sigman scored 16 points and sophomore
Marcus Connor had 10 rebounds and seven blocks.
The Monarchs will host Shenandoah on Saturday at 4 pm.
