FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Shenandoah University took the 80-64 lead over the Monarchs Saturday afternoon, their first victory at the Riddle Center since 1993.
Methodist (7-11, 2-3) went ahead 4-3 on a free throw from freshman
Mark Jernigan but Shenandoah (7-11, 2-3) responded with a 3-pointer to take the lead and never trailed for the remainder of the contest. The Hornets led by as many as 16 points in the first half and went into the locker room with the 38-28 lead.
Shenandoah jumped out to an 18 point lead in the second half, but the Monarchs battled back to cut the lead to 10 with 9:18 to go in the game. The Hornets responded with six quick points and finished with the 80-64 win.
Methodist junior
Tyler Sigman led the team with 14 points while senior #A.B. Lehmann# had 12 points. Sophomore
Marcus Connor had 10 points and 10 blocks to break the school record for blocks in a game.
The Monarchs will host Christopher Newport tomorrow at 4 pm.
