LaGRANGE, Ga. - Methodist took the lead midway through the first half and never trailed again as they defeated LaGrange College 84-75 Sunday afternoon.
The scored was tied at 16 with 13:25 to go in the first half, but Methodist freshman
Devonne Blackshear drained a 3-pointer to give the Monarchs the lead. Methodist (4-7) continued to build on their lead and were ahead 41-23 at halftime.
Methodist came back out strong to start the second half extending their lead to as 22 points, but LaGrange (3-10) chipped away at the lead until they only trailed by three points with 7:34 left to play. The Monarchs were just 57 percent from the free throw line in the second half, but the 16 points were enough as Methodist held on for the 84-75 victory.
Freshman
Mark Jernigan was just one board shy of a double-double with 27 points and nine rebounds. Senior #A.B. Lehmann
had 17 points and junior Tyler Sigman# added 14 points. Sophomore
Joshua Crumpler led the team with 10 rebounds.
The Monarchs will host Maryville Jan. 11 at 4 pm.
