ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Methodist University added a USA South Athletic Conference win on Sunday with a 1-0 victory at North Carolina Wesleyan College.

Danielle MInichello had the first shot of the game, but it sailed high. The Bishops (3-8, 1-3) tried to counter at the other end, but were called offsides. The Monarchs had a chance at the other end with a loose ball in front of the N.C. Wesleyan goal. Methodist senior
Whitney Roberson got off a shot to the left side of the goal to give the Monarchs the 1-0 lead in the seventh minute. Methodist out shot the Bishops 6-1 during the remainder of the half but the Monarchs held the 1-0 lead at the break.
The Monarchs had a number of opportunities in the second half but Methodist held on for the 1-0 win. Sophomore
Sara Altman started in goal while junior
Kasey Nichols picked up a save in goal during the second half. Tiina Rastiola made eight stops for the Bishops.
The Monarchs will step outside of USA South Conference action next weekend to play at the University of Mary Washington Saturday at 1 pm.
