WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Methodist women's basketball team used a 19-2 run to end the first half to take control of Salem College and cruise to the 69-43 win.
Methodist (1-3) took the early lead at 9-4, but Salem (2-2) took over with 13:44 to play in the first half. The Spirits were ahead 16-13 when the Monarchs went on a 19-2 run to take the 32-18 lead at halftime.
Methodist extended their lead to as many as 29 points in the second half before finishing with the 69-43 victory.
The Monarchs had a joint effort with senior
Michaela Myers, junior
Adriana Wilson, and freshman Kahla Godette each scoring 12 points a piece. Freshman
Christina Schrader led the team on the boards with six while adding eight points.
Kelsey Rector led Salem with 13 points.
The Monarchs will host the Cross Creek InnKeeper Turkey Shootout with the first game featuring Methodist and Apprentice on Friday at 7 p.m.
