FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist dropped a hard fought game to Ferrum College on Saturday 65-57.
The Monarchs (8-13, 3-5) scored the first basket of the game but both teams exchanged the lead five times before Ferrum (11-10, 4-4) finished the half on an 13-2 run to lead 33-22 at the break.
Methodist sophomore
Leland Jones opened the second half with a 3-pointer. The Monarchs moved within five points on three different occasions before the Panthers built up a 14 points lead. Methodist came back once again and senior
Alex Meadows hit a jumper in the paint with 36 seconds remaining to close the Ferrum lead to three. The Monarchs were forced to foul and the Panthers finished with free throws to take the 65-57 win.
Meadows finished with five 3-pointers on the day to lead the team with 19 points. Sophomore
Marcus Connor had 11 blocks to broke his own record for blocks in a game. Connor also surpassed the season record for blocks with 103 so far this season.
The Monarchs will host Averett University on Tuesday at 7:30 pm in conjunction with
"Take a Kid to the Game" day.
