NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Methodist University men's basketball team took the lead midway through the first half before Christopher Newport came back to win 83-65.
The Captains (8-8, 3-2) jumped out to the 11-4 lead in the first five minutes before the Monarchs (0-16, 0-4) came back and tied the game at 13. Methodist took their first lead of the game at 21-20 with 8:27 to go in the half on a 3-pointer from freshman

Matthew Snowberger put the Monarchs up by three before Christopher Newport closed the half on a 17-4 run to lead 40-30.
Early in the second half the Captains extended their lead to 16 before the Monarchs cut the lead to 10 on free throws from senior
Tyler Sigman. Christopher Newport regained control and finished with the 83-65 victory.
Sigman led the team with 18 points while sophomore
Mark Jernigan scored 15 points and Kerr added 10 points. Sophomore
Tanner Carnes and freshman
Kyle Combs each scored seven points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Jake Capin paced the Captains with 18 points.
The Monarchs will continue their road trip at Shenandoah tomorrow at 4 p.m.
