DEMOREST, Ga. - The Methodist men's basketball team came up short to Piedmont College on Sunday taking a 111-90 loss in Demorest, Ga.
Piedmont (7-4) took the early 16-6 lead, but the Monarchs (0-10) came back and took the 21-20 lead on a layup from sophomore
Tanner Carnes. Piedmont regained the lead, but Methodist held the 41-38 advantage at halftime.
The score was tied four times early in the second half, but Piedmont used a 14-2 run late to take control. The Lions led by as many as 25 points before finishing with the 111-90 win.
Methodist had five players score in double figures led by Carnes with 14 points. Sophomore
Mark Jernigan scored 12 points and freshman
Ross Diachenko added 11 points. Freshmen
Brian Sigman and
Steven Kerr scored 10 points a piece.
Michael Rubio led Piedmont with 31 points.
The Monarchs will play at Ferrum on Saturday at 4 p.m.
