FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist women's soccer team rebounded from a loss Saturday to earn the 3-1 win over N.C. Wesleyan College.
Lauren Kijewski started things off for the Monarchs with a goal from 35 yards out that caught N.C. Wesleyan goalkeeper Rachel Townsend off guard. In just over a minute later,
Brooke Corley and
Lauren Colenda fed the ball from the left side over to
Lisa Paschal on the right for the second goal of the game.
The Bishops' Katri Snellman scored just before halftime with a free kick just outside the 18-yard box to cut the lead to one.
Danielle Minichello blasted a shot from the top of the 18 in the 66th minute to give Methodist the 3-1 advantage.
The Monarchs out shot N.C. Wesleyan 21-6.
Kasey Nichols had three saves and
Sara Altman added one.
Townsend and Tiina Rastiola combined for seven saves for the Bishops.
Methodist will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Chowan University in a non-conference game.
