FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist earned their sixth shutout of the season on Wednesday as they took the 3-0 win over St. Andrews Presbyterian College.
Jillian Reed gave Methodist the 1-0 lead with a goal on the assist from
Danielle Minichello. The shots were even 6-6 in the first half, but the Monarchs took over in the second half adding two goals during the final 45 minutes.
Minichello scored a goal of her own in the 50th minute from 25 yards out hitting the upper left corner of the goal.
Brooke Corley put the Monarchs up 3-0 in the 72nd minute on a breakaway after a free kick from Marrisa Kuzbyt.
Kasey Nichols and
Sara Altman combined for the shutout with six saves. Becca Knott had four saves for St. Andrews.
The Monarchs will be back in action on Friday when they host Greensboro at 3 p.m. Methodist will recognize six seniors before the game in one of their final regular season home games.
