FERRUM, Va. - The Methodist women's soccer team scored with less than 15 minutes remaining to earn the 1-0 win over Ferrum College on Sunday.
The Panthers rattled off the first five shots of the game before Methodist freshman
Lisa Paschal fired one high to get the Monarchs' offense going. Neither team scored in the first half while Ferrum dominated the shots 7-4 through the first 45 minutes.
Methodist broke free in the 77th minute when
Lauren Colenda fed
Danielle Minichello for the game's only goal, her fifth of the season.
Methodist goalkeeper
Sara Altman made two of her six saves in the final 10 minutes to help preserve the 1-0 shutout.
Katie Hodkinson had four stops for Ferrum.
The Monarchs will be back in action at home on Saturday, Oct. 9 when they host conference rival Christopher Newport University at 2 p.m.
