FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - It was a tale of two halves as Guilford took over in the second half to win 77-53.
Methodist (0-1) took the 7-2 lead early in the first half with a three-pointer by
Tanner Carnes. The Quakers came back and tied the game at nine as they went on an 11-0 run. Guilford built up an eight point lead before Carnes hit two free throws to close the gap to four. The Quakers finished with 39-29 lead at halftime.
Guilford took over in the second half and built a 27 point lead. Methodist kept fighting, but the Quakers finished with the 77-53 win.
James Whitehead led the team with 11 points.
Mark Jernigan and
Bryan Hockaday added eight points a piece. Hockaday and Carnes paced the team with seven rebounds a piece.
Methodist will be back in action on Friday at Hampden-Sydney at 7 p.m.
