BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Methodist men's basketball team wrapped up 2010 with a dominating 87-64 win over Covenant College on Saturday afternoon.
The Monarchs opened the contest with a 15-2 lead in the first five minutes and 20 seconds before cruising to the 54-25 halftime lead. During the second half Methodist cushioned their lead by as many as 33 points before finishing with the 87-64 victory.
Tanner Carnes paced the Monarchs with 17 points and 11 rebounds while
Mark Jernigan scored 12 points and
Steven Kerr added 11 points.
Kyle Combs was also in double figures with 10 points.
Methodist will break for the holidays before returning to action at the Washington and Lee Tournament Jan. 2-3.
