Methodist Women Celebrate Win in Pink

Monarchs raised more than $3,000 for breast cancer awareness

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist women's basketball team celebrated "Pink Zone" on Saturday afternoon with a 70-43 win over N.C. Wesleyan.

Methodist (14-9, 10-6) jumped out to the 19-10 lead with a 3-pointer from senior Michaela Myers. The Monarchs extended their lead to as many as 23 points closing out the first half with the 40-17 lead.

N.C. Wesleyan (0-20, 0-14) could not make up ground in the second half as Methodist kept up the pressure early with nine unanswered points. The Monarchs finished with the 70-43 victory.

The Methodist women's basketball team celebrated their third annual Pink Zone event (formerly Think Pink) featuring a special halftime recognition ceremony for breast cancer survivors.

Myers led the team with 21 points while junior Adriana Wilson and junior Dawn Sanderson scored 10 a piece.

Samantha Urquhart paced the Bishops with 18 points.

The Monarchs will finish the regular season next weekend hosting Shenandoah and Christopher Newport Feb. 19-20.
