FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Methodist jumped out to an early lead Friday night and did not look back in a 14-2 victory that was called after seven innings.

Tripp Lancaster led off with a triple and scored off of a single by Trey Such. Kurt Kelly (1-0) scattered five hits over six innings, giving up two runs and striking out 11.

The Monarchs took the 3-0 lead after the first inning before Farmingdale tallied with two runs in the bottom of the inning to move within one run.

After a scoreless second, Xavier Mayo hit a sacrifice fly to score Shawn Lovette. The floodgates opened in the fourth when the Monarchs put together eight runs on six hits to go along with three Farmingdale errors.

Methodist added two runs in the seventh inning to go ahead 14-2. After holding the Rams scoreless in the bottom of the seventh, the game concluded with the 12-run rule in effect.

Lancaster finished 3-for-3 on the day and Halpin was 2-for-2.

The Monarchs will take on Huntingdon on Saturday at 1 p.m. before facing Frostburg at 4 p.m.
