FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist baseball team finished the weekend with a three-game sweep over Stevenson after earning the 25-12 win on Sunday.
The Monarchs' offense was running on all cylinders as 10 players contributed to 27 hits for the day.
Brian Inghram had a RBI single in the first and
Brian Goodwin had a solo home run in the second for the 2-0 lead before an eight-run third inning gave Methodist the 10-0 lead.
Stevenson came back with six runs in the fifth, before the Monarchs batted around for nine runs in the bottom of the inning. The Mustangs added three runs in the sixth and one in the seventh while Methodist scored six more runs to lead 25-10 heading into the ninth. Stevenson finished with two runs in the ninth before the Monarchs finished with the 25-12 win.
Landon Jordan earned the win on the mound striking out seven in five innings of work.
Hunter Ennis,
David Christoffersen and
John Markley finished in relief.
Goodwin and
Trey Such hit 4-for-6 on the day. Both had a home run along with
Shawn Lovette and
Brian Halpin to give the Monarchs four in the game.
Tripp Lancaster and Inghram finished 3-for-4.
The Monarchs will host Piedmont and York next weekend beginning with Piedmont on Friday at 7 p.m.
