Bryan Madej opened his head coaching career with a successful 2-1 outing at Guilford College Wednesday night to start the 2010 season.

Christine Ellington and
Lauren Colenda scored two goals just three minutes apart to give the Monarchs the offense they needed to prevail over the Quakers.
Ellington tallied the first goal in the 20th minute by winning a challenge for a loose ball with Guilford goalkeeper Amy Baker and slotting the ball past her. Colenda followed in the 23rd minute with a goal off a shot deflected past Baker.
The Quakers' had a goal disallowed late in the first half on an offsides call, but halved the deficit with 7:29 remaining when Sarah Levitt capitalized on a loose ball in the defensive third. Neither team threatened in the final minutes as Methodist improved to 15-2 all time versus Guilford.
Methodist goalkeeper
Kasey Nichols had two saves while Baker finished with one for Guilford.
The Monarchs will host Marymount on Saturday at 2 p.m.
