FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist women's basketball team used a 13-1 run midway through the first half to take control over N.C. Wesleyan and cruise to the 72-51 win.
The game was tied early at nine before the Monarchs took over and led 22-10 with 9:23 to play in the first half. Methodist (8-7, 6-2) extended their lead to 21 heading into the locker room on a free throw from
Cynthia Jones.
N.C. Wesleyan (2-10, 1-6) cut the lead to 14, but Methodist rebuilt a 24 point advantage with 3:43 on the clock. The Monarchs maintained control in the final minutes to prevail with the 72-51 win.
Jackie Lyles notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds while
Jordan Tyson added 11 points. #T.T. Taylor# was also in double figures with 10 points.
Tionne Evans paced the Bishops with nine points.
Methodist will be back in action on Friday when they host nationally ranked Christopher Newport at 7 p.m.
