FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist men's basketball team used a 14-0 run in the second half to propel themselves past the Hornets for the 78-65 win.
Terrell Stallings opened up the game with two rebounds and five points for the 5-0 Methodist lead. Shenandoah took the 18-9 advantage with 11:26 to play. The Monarchs battled back to take the 27-26 lead with 3:31 to go.
Kyle Combs hit a jumper with 31 seconds on the clock to give Methodist the 32-30 lead at halftime.
Shenandoah moved ahead 38-34 before the Monarchs rallied for a 14-0 run midway through the second half. The Hornets trailed by seven with 5:58 to play and started to foul with 1:30 on the clock, but Methodist finished 8-for-9 from the free throw line down the stretch to earn the 78-65 victory.
Combs finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Stallings added 16 points and
Travis Fulp scored 11 points.
Kevin Kline scored 25 points for Shenandoah.
The Monarchs will be back in action tomorrow when they host Christopher Newport at 4 p.m.
