FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Ferrum used a 10-0 run early in the second half to cruise to the 79-56 win over the Methodist men's basketball team.
The Panthers opened up a 12-3 lead in the first half before Methodist battled back to cut the lead to two on a 3-pointer from
Steven Kerr. Ferrum held the 32-20 lead with 2:39 to play before
Bryan Hockaday cut the lead to eight with consecutive layups. The Panthers held the 40-25 lead at the break.
Ferrum came out and went on a 10-0 run to open the second half and put the game out of reach for the Monarchs.
Terrell Stallings cut the lead to 18 with two free throws, but the Panthers maintained control to earn the 79-56 win.
Stallings paced the Monarchs with 13 points while Hockaday added 11 points.
Mark Jernigan added nine points and
Kyle Combs scored eight points with a team-high eight rebounds.
Derek Mitchell led Ferrum with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
Methodist will be back in action on Wednesday at Averett at 7:30 p.m.
