Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist women's soccer team (5-7-1, 2-2-1) seemed to dominate possession early in the first half, but Averett (9-1, 3-0) capitalized on opportunities and finished with the 3-1 win. 

Play went end to end in the first half with both teams having early opportunities. Methodist goalkeeper Sara Altman came off her line to make a save before Danielle Minichello had a close opportunity at the other end for the Monarchs. Averett struck first when Pernilla Milton beat the Methodist defense at the end line and scored on an open goal in the 32nd minute. The Monarchs came back and tied the game early in the second half after Lisa Paschal capitalized on Jessie Oder's corner kick. The Cougars responded with the eventual game-winning goal just six  minutes later with an open shot from 12 yards out. Milton added an insurance goal for Averett in the 64th minute to finish withe 3-1 win.

Methodist had six corner kicks to Averett's one, but the Cougars dominated in shots 11 to eight. Altman finished with four saves while Averett's Samantha Lupo had three. 

The Monarchs will be back in action on Sunday when they host Ferrum at 4 p.m.
