Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - No. 14 Greensboro College opened USA South Athletic Conference action with a 57-41 victory over the Methodist University Monarchs.
The Monarchs (3-3, 0-1) held an early 12-8 lead with a jumper from
Jackie Lyles, but the Pride (4-0, 1-0) used a 17-1 run to build a 12-point lead. Methodist's
Brianna Robinson stopped the run with a layup with seven minutes left in the half. Courtney Wood's jumper cut the lead to nine with 3:50 remaining, but Greensboro maintained the 35-23 lead at halftime.
Methodist came out and scored five straight points to move back within nine, but the Pride took their largest lead of the game at 45-28. The Monarchs played tight defense in the second half helping to force 16 Greensboro turnovers, but the Pride held strong to win 57-41.
Lyles led Methodist with 11 points and six rebounds while
T.T. Taylor had 10 points. Robinson added eight points.
Danielle Duncan paced Greensboro with 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Bianca Richburg had 12 points and 18 rebounds.
Methodist will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Christopher Newport University for a 2 p.m. contest.
