FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist went on a 12-0 run late in the second half to mount a comeback, but Greensboro edged the Monarchs 62-59.
The game was tied at 11 early before Greensboro went on a 10-0 run. The Monarchs closed the lead to three points, but the Pride took a 31-22 lead at the break. The Pride maintained the advantage in the second half with the 48-32 advantage with 12:35 to play. Methodist started to chip away at the lead, but with 8:33 to play, Greensboro led 56-45. The Monarchs went on a 12-0 run to lead 57-56 with 3:56 left to play.
The Pride responded with a 3-pointer to regain the lead. With 1:18 on the clock, Jernigan hit a jumper to trim the lead to two. With 10 seconds remaining, the Monarchs had a chance to take the lead, but the 3-pointer fell short and the Monarchs were forced to foul. Greensboro's Lewis Owenby hit his first free throw to extend the lead to three, but missed the second and Jernigan grabbed the rebound. The Monarchs had two chances to inbound the ball and get a shot off, but Greensboro held on for the win.
Jernigan led the team with 16 points while
Kyle Combs scored 15 points with 13 rebounds.
Bryan Hockaday had 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Methodist finishes the season at 10-16.
