Methodist Draws at Meredith

Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. - The Methodist women's soccer team took the early lead over Meredith College on Saturday before coming away with a 2-2 tie.

Lisa Paschal gave the Monarchs the 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute with a goal to the far post. Methodist held the 6-4 shot advantage in the first half and maintained the 1-0 lead at halftime. In the 75th minute, Danielle Minichello crossed the ball into the box from the left corner for Brooke Corley to finish with a goal and the 2-0 lead. Just a minute later, Meredith got on the board with a penalty kick. In the 82nd minute, Meredith's Eliza Evans tied the game with a goal to the far post.

With the game still tied at the end of regulation, the two teams played two-10 minute overtime periods. Methodist out shot the Angels 3-1 in overtime, but neither team scored for the game to end tied 2-2.

Sara Altman made six saves for Methodist while Kelsey Hopper had eight saves for Meredith.

Methodist will be back in action on Sunday when they host Peace College at 4 p.m.
