Box Score DEMOREST, Ga. - The Methodist women's soccer team battled for 90 minutes with Piedmont College, but the Lions edged out the 1-0 victory to open the 2011 season.

Dilyn MacLean gave Piedmont the 1-0 lead in 31st minute on the assist from Kristen Murri. Methodist finished with seven shots, but could not find the equalizer. The Lions out shot the Monarchs 14-7. Methodist goalkeeper Sara Altman had seven saves.

Danielle Minichello led the Monarchs with four shots.

Methodist will be back in action on Sunday when they take on Agnes Scott.
