Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Methodist and Guilford women's soccer teams battled scoreless for 80 minutes before the Quakers tallied two quick goals to edge the Monarchs 2-0.
Methodist seemed to have control of play in the first half, but Guilford did miss a wide open goal midway through the period. The Monarchs tried to capitalize through the midfield in the second half, but it was the Quakers who pounced first. Sarah Levitt chipped a ball into the side netting from the left side to give Guilford the 1-0 lead in the 80th minute before Katie Oliver got one of her own less than a minute later.
Brooke Corley had an opportunity for the Monarchs late in the game, but Quaker keeper Amy Baker made the save.
Baker finished with three saves while Methodist goalkeeper
Sara Altman had eight.
The Monarchs will travel to Mary Washington this weekend with their first game against the host Eagles on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
