Kristin Habig's goal with under 13 minutes to play broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the Methodist women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over LaGrange on Saturday afternoon at the Monarch Soccreplex.
Habig's unassisted tally, her team-leading sixth of the season, came after the Panthers had tied the contest a 1-1 almost as soon as the second half began. LaGrange's Sydney Dorsey took a pass from Brittany Gray and beat MU's
Taylor Ross to tie the game at 1-1 just 1:14 into the second period.
The Monarchs had taken a 1-0 lead in the 20
th minute as
Kelly Wolz notched her third goal of the season following a feed from Katie Pederson.
The Monarchs held a 9-5 advantage in shots and earned eight corner kicks to only three for the Panthers. Ross earned the win in goal for Methodist, allowing the lone goal and making three saves. Chelsea Totaro played all 90:00 in goal for the Panthers and made four saves.
The Monarchs are right back at it on Sunday, hosting Piedmont at 2:00 pm.
