Birmingham-Southern Defeats Methodist Women's Soccer, 6-1

Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. – Birmingham Southern's Bailey Kimball and Amanda Babbin combined to score four goals and the Tigers defeated the Methodist women's soccer team 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Panthers scored four goals in the opening 18:17 to take a commanding 4-0 lead, with Kimbell scoring three times off feeds from Babbin. Kimbell started the scoring at the 8:58 taking a pass from Babbin and putting it past MU freshman Taylor Ross. The duo connected again just 42 seconds later to make it a 2-0 game in favor of BSC.
 
A Methodist own goal at 13:38 made it 3-0 and Babbin found Kimbell once again at the 18:17 mark to make it a 4-0 contest in favor of the Panthers and cap the first-half scoring.
 
Babbin opened the scoring in the second period as Kimbell assisted on her goal at the 52:10 mark to put BSC up 5-0 and Kelly Craft's unassisted goal made it a 6-0 game with 31:40 to play.
 
The Monarchs got on the board at the 66:20 mark when sophomore Jessie Oder converted a penalty kick for her first goal of the season.
 
The Panthers held a 22-7 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.
 
Ross played the first half for MU, allowing four goals and coming up with three saves. Junior Sarah Hayden was in goal in the second half and made two saves with two goals allowed.
 
The Monarchs return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Guilford for a 7:00 pm contest.
