Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. - The Methodist women's soccer team overcame an early 1-0 deficit to defeat host William Peace, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon.
Less than three minutes into the second half,
Cassie Poindexter headed in a score at the 47:16 mark to give break open a tie game and give Methodist (5-5-1, 3-2-0 USA South) a 2-1 advantage. Maggard and
Taylor Cavazos were both credited with an assist on the play. Cavazos would go on to score the next two Methodist goals in the span of 39 seconds, putting the Monarchs ahead, 4-1 margin, at the 51:14 mark. WPC's (1-8-2, 0-5-1 USA South) Mari Mitterling would add the host's final score in the 53rd minute on an unassisted goal.
Trailing 1-0 after 25 minutes, the Monarchs knotted up the game on Deycahsa Miller's goal in the 26th minute off a pass from
Kortney Maggard. The score remained 1-1 at halftime as the Monarchs and Pacers left the pitch.

Sarah Hayden, earned the victory and made two saves as she played the entire second half. Shannon Maddex took the loss for William Peace, stopping 11 shots.
The Monarchs will return to action for an away game on Friday against Covenant at 5:00 pm.
