Monarchs Women’s Soccer Shut Out, 3-0, by Piedmont

Box Score DEMOREST, Ga. – The Methodist women's soccer wrapped up its two-game road trip by losing, 3-0, to host Piedmont on Sunday afternoon.
 
MU (3-5-1, 1-2-0 USA South) fell behind in the first half as PC's (7-1-1, 3-0-1) Laura Goodwin took a pass from Kelsey Schaffermoth and converted, putting PC ahead, 1-0, in the 32nd minute. The score would remain, 1-0, going into halftime.
 
Goodwin scored another goal in the 57th minute, this time on a pass from Savannah Castles, making it, 2-0, in favor of the Lions. To cap the day's scoring, Kelley Miller took a pass from Shayna Rogers and found the back of the net at the 86:55 mark, giving the Lions a three-goal advantage.
 
Making her first start in nearly a month, Methodist goalkeeper Taylor Ross (0-2-0) made three saves in her lone half of action. Sarah Hayden relieved Ross and stopped a single shot in the second half. Piedmont's Marjorie Hammond (7-1-1) made four saves, and was credited with her fourth shutout of the season and seventh consecutive winning decision.
 
MU will play host to USA South opponent N.C. Wesleyan on Wednesday at 2:00 pm.
