SALEM, Va. -- Daniel Eacho scored 34 points and the Methodist men's basketball team fell, 89-82, to Roanoke in the Championship game of the Dick Leftwich-V Foundation Classic on Saturday afternoon.

Eacho's 34 points helped Roanoke (3-1) overcome a 41-39 deficit at halftime. Methodist slipped to 2-2 on the season while the Maroons improved to 3-1 in 2014-15.

Roanoke used a 13-2 run to open the second half to turn the aforementioned deficit into a 54-47 lead with 13:07 to play on a layup by Eacho. The Monarchs cut RC's lead to three on several occasions before making a late push.

Mike Major knocked down a jump shot at the 2:39 mark to pull Methodist within a single point (76-75) to cap a 10-4 scoring run for MU. The Maroons, however, pushed back out to a six-point lead at 81-75 on an Eacho layup with just 1:08 on the clock to seal the win.

Roanoke pulled away in the second half after an evenly played first half. Methodist led by as many as five points (16-11) in the opening 20 minutes, but the Maroons turned the tables with a 15-5 run to take a 26-21 lead by the 8:44 mark. The Monarchs came back to take a 41-39 lead at halftime, before RC's run iin the second period.

T.J. Gill paced MU with a career-high 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including 7-of-9 from three-point range. Major added 21 points and six rebounds in the loss. He shot 8-of-15 from the field and picked up two steals as well.
Desmond Parker chipped in 15 points and six boards.

Eacho finished shooting 13-of-21 from the floor and 8-of-12 from the free-throw line. He added seven rebounds as well. John Fitchett (14), Cameron Smith (13), and Andrew Daniels (11) all scored in double figures and Smith completed a double-double with 10 rebounds.

The Monarchs are back in action on Tuesday when they host Virginia Wesleyan at 7:00 pm.
