Box Score FAYETTVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist's women's soccer team tallied their first home loss on Thursday evening, dropping a 1-0 overtime affair to Barton College at the Monarch Soccerplex.
Barton's Ashley Batchelor broke a scoreless tie at the 94:33 mark, taking a pass from Kathryn Smith and beating Methodist's
Taylor Ross to lift the Bulldogs (1-0) to victory in their season opener.
Both offenses came out strong, but it was Barton who had the upper hand, registering six shots on goal to Methodist's three.
Ross played 94:33 in goal for the Monarchs (0-3) and made five saves while allowing one goal. Carson Moore earned the win for the Bulldogs, making three saves to preserve the clean sheet.
The Monarchs return to action on Sunday when they host Washington and Lee at 3:00PM.
