MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Methodist women's basketball team dropped an 84-62 decision at Huntingdon College on Sunday afternoon.

The Hawks (4-4, 1-1 USA South), who received 26 points from Mackenzie Garmany and 25 points from Pat Pickens, started the contest quickly and raced out to a 14-2 lead following a triple by Garmany at the 16:53 mark. Huntingdon hit six of its first seven shots of the game and took advantage of four early Methodist (0-8, 0-2 USA South) turnovers.

The Monarchs cut their deficit to eight points, but the Hawks continued to distance themselves and took a 16-point lead (46-30) by halftime. In the second half, MU shot 40.7 percent (11-27) and was unable to mount a comeback as Huntingdon steadily built its lead.

Methodist shot 41.5 percent as a team (22-53) and turned the ball over 19 times, while Huntingdon shot 53.0 percent as a team (35-66) and committed 20 turnovers. The Hawks out rebounded MU, 43-25.

Jalisia Campbell led MU with 15 points, and
Alexis Wallace added 10.
Ayanna Pegues had eight points and seven rebounds, and
Maria Jones chipped in eight points. Wallace also contributed a pair of blocks and two steals.

For Huntingdon, Garmany shot 6-of-8 from three-point range, and Pickens shot 11-of-17 overall. Each player had six assists, and Pickens also had four steals. Tan Munford had 10 points and six rebounds, and Juliette Harp chipped in seven points, 10 rebounds and four blocks.
