Christine Bowman's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted the Methodist softball team to an 11-10 win over MacMurray on Tuesday at Grant Park.

Bowman's single completed a late-inning rally that saw MU come back from an 8-5 deficit in the seventh, and a 10-8 deficit in the eighth inning.

Trailing by three after MacMurray scored five times in the seventh to turn a 5-3 deficit into an 8-5 lead, the Monarchs answered with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 8-8.
Kirsten Markow drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 8-6, and
Krista Zentner made it 8-7 when she reached on a fielder's choice that drove in
Ally Griffin to make it 8-7.
Heather Williams completed the Monarchs' first comeback with a single to center that pushed Markow across to tie the game at 8-8.

MacMurray took a short-lived 10-8 lead in the eighth inning on RBI singles by Jaimey Watrous and Natalie Foster.

In the bottom of the inning,
Kelsey Harrington laid down a bunt single that allowed Williams to score, and
Lindsay Tippett followed with a single to right to bring in
Sarah Stapleton and tie the game at 10-10. Bowman completed the comeback when she laced a single of the leg of MacMurray's Lexie Jarrett to score Harrington and give MU the win.

Tippett helped stake the Monarchs to a 3-2 lead with a two-run home run in the fourth and a sacrifice fly in the fifth, before the Green and Golf took a 5-2 lead on Griffin's two-run triple later in the fifth inning.

Monica Revels picked up the win for Methodist. She started the contest, and after being pulled, came back in relief and closed out the win. She finished with four runs allowed (3 ER) on 13 hits and two walks with a strikeout in 6.2 total innings. Jarrett took the loss of MacMurray, allowing three runs (2 ER) on four hits and two walks in just 0.2 innings of relief. Watrous started and gave up eight runs on eight hits and five walks with five strikeouts in 6.1 innings.

Tippett finished 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored. Williams was a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI. Harrington was 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs, and Stapleton had two hits in four at-bats with a walk and two runs scored.

Stephanie Watkins was 4-for-5 with a pair of runs, and Daerial DeGroot was 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Foster finished 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored.
