FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Methodist outscored Chowan, 7-1, in the second half to earn a 12-7 win over the Hawks on Saturday afternoon.

The Monarchs trailed 6-5 at the break, and quickly fell behind 7-5 on Mackenzie Reid's unassisted tally at the 26:08 mark of the second stanza.
Hope Motahari answered at 24:56 to make it 7-6 and the Monarchs tied the game at 7-7 on
Sareena Coleman's goal at 16:15.

The Monarchs pulled ahead 8-7 on
Emily Brennen's unassisted tally at 13:32 and Motahari extended the lead to 9-7 with a goal at 11:29. Brennen added back-to-back unassisted goals and
Emily Creasy capped the scoring at the 2:00 mark to make it 12-7.

Methodist outshot Chowan 12-2 in the second half and won 8-of-9 draw controls over the final 30 minutes.

Motahari and Brennen finished with four goals apiece, and Coleman added a pair of goals and one assist. Â Motahari had eight draw controls, five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Coleman added three draw controls, four caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Emily Ewin picked up the win making four saves in the goal for Methodist.
